Welcome to P2/3

Class Teacher: Mrs R Chestnutt

I would like to welcome you and your child to Primary 2/3! In Primary 2/3 we like to make learning as fun as possible for our children by ensuring the completion of a range of practical activities and experiences throughout all areas of the primary curriculum.

In our lovely new classroom, we have lots of fun resources to enhance our learning, along with a separate playroom where the children can benefit from a range of structured play activities whilst also using their amazing imaginations! We also enjoy getting outside to play as much as possible to enjoy the fresh air!

Literacy

In Primary 2/3 we enjoy learning our Jolly Phonics sounds and high frequency words, alongside Reading eggs and our class library for additional books. The children also enjoy developing their talking and listening skills through weekly circle times, show and tell and other engaging listening activities. We learn to write words and sentences by developing our fine and gross motor skills, and also through both modelled and shared writing experiences.

Numeracy

In Primary 2/3 we enjoy learning all about numbers, recognising these and ensuring they are in the correct order, whilst also learning how to add and take away! We learn to measure in different ways, recognise, sort and name shapes. All daily numeracy lessons involve practical and engaging activities to ensure the children enjoy their learning experiences as much as possible!
